Early Access Launch

The Headlands entered Steam Early Access on 14 September 2026, published and developed by TessaraOxygen. This page summarizes what that means for players: what you can do today in Traktorivka, how long EA may last, how pricing is expected to change, and how community feedback already shaped the build.

The final major demo step before EA was the Rainy Season Update (August 2026)—weather, machinery repair, first production chains, a bigger map, and QoL. For forward-looking themes, continue to the Roadmap. For the pitch and systems overview, see About The Headlands.

Why Early Access?

TessaraOxygen’s Steam statement is clear: the core gameplay loop, story foundations, and most key mechanics are ready for a wider audience, but the studio wants to keep developing with players. Demo feedback already influenced machinery, balance, and improvements—some ideas shipped, more remain in progress. EA extends that conversation.

If you only want a finished 1.0 museum piece, wait. If you enjoy watching a farm sim deepen across seasons of patches, buy in during Early Access.

How long will EA last?

Approximate plan: about twelve months. The estimate flexes with content speed and feedback. The developer would rather delay 1.0 than ship something raw.

From Rainy Season into Early Access

Rainy Season was explicitly the last major demo update before Early Access began. It proved the systems players still lean on: living weather, wear and Sydorovych repairs, sawmill and mill production, warehouse trucking, expanded fields, faster time flow, and farm/vehicle UI. Treat that page as the pre-EA systems brief, then return here for EA length, pricing, and 1.0 goals.

What is in the Early Access version?

You can already:

  • Revive a run-down farm and work fields.
  • Operate agricultural machinery from small tractors toward heavier gear.
  • Complete neighbour contracts and earn money to expand.
  • Engage a living market where time, fuel, and harvest interconnect.
  • Run production chains for better margins than raw dumps.
  • Meet characters and follow story-framed events.
  • Discover machines with personality, including mentor homemade builds.
  • Work under weather and keep the fleet repaired—systems proven in Rainy Season.

Single-player only on Steam (Windows and macOS).

Still developing: additional content layers, polish, and expansions called out on the Roadmap. That incompleteness is intentional, not a hidden bug list alone.

How will 1.0 differ?

Stated directions include:

  • Continuing the storyline with new contracts.
  • More machinery types and models.
  • New ways to grow the farm.
  • An expanded world not limited to Traktorivka alone.
  • Balance, interface, controls, and systems improved from player reports.

The goal is a richer experience that grew with its community—not the same village with three extra errands.

Pricing note

TessaraOxygen plans to raise the price slightly after Early Access. Players who buy during EA receive future updates. Introductory discounts around the EA start are time-limited on Steam—check the live store widget via Official Links.

Community involvement

Feedback channels include Steam discussions, reviews, and official social posts. Demo-era suggestions already landed in the product; EA aims to keep that loop honest. When you report bugs, include hardware notes from System Requirements and clear reproduction steps.

What to play first

  1. Getting Started — survive the opening loop.
  2. Controls — learn the cab and menus.
  3. Farming Basics — sow and harvest with intent.
  4. Crop Planner — sketch your first season.
  5. Traktorivka and Sydorovych — meet the village.
  6. Rainy Season Update — understand weather, repair, and production roots.

Balance expectations

Numbers will move. A tractor that feels perfect in September may be tuned by later patches. Keep mental notes, not permanent dogma, on the Machinery Hub. Weather and market design are core—read Weather and Production Chains when economy patches land.

AI content disclosure (store note)

Steam discloses limited AI-assisted contract illustrations for now, to be replaced with hand-drawn art later. No AI generates gameplay content during play. Cosmetics of UI art may change; systems remain human-designed.

Trailer context

The trailer embedded on this page shows the EA presentation of fields, machines, and tone. Older demo showcases (including Rainy Season / Demo 2 / gameplay clips on the official channel) remain useful mood references but may differ from current builds—prefer EA notes when they conflict.

Practical EA buyer advice

  • Expect incomplete edges and celebrate patch days.
  • Keep save discipline if patches warn about migrations.
  • Budget for a possible post-EA price bump if you are on the fence.
  • Participate politely; small teams read tone as well as tickets.

Traktorivka is open. Bring fuel, patience, and feedback—and give the land time.
