Guides Hub

Welcome to the Guides Hub for The Headlands, TessaraOxygen’s cozy meditative farming strategy set in the Ukrainian village of Traktorivka in the early 2000s. Steam Early Access began on 14 September 2026 (app 4301110). The core loop is already here: revive a run-down farm, work fields, sow and harvest grain and vegetables, manage fuel and time, watch living market prices, fulfil neighbour contracts, grow a fleet from small tractors to combines, and feed production chains that turn raw harvests into finished goods.

This hub is the map of every how-to page on the wiki. Start with onboarding if you just bought the game, then dig into weather timing, contracts, crops, market sells, repair, and mill/sawmill decisions once your first harvest is in the truck bed. Pair these guides with the Tier List Hub when you are shopping for machines, the Tools Hub for planners and system specs, and Players for village context.

Start here

New players should read these in order:

  1. Getting Started — first hours, which fields to open first, fuel discipline, and what not to buy early.
  2. Controls — driving, implements, camera habits, shops, and fuel stops without fighting the UI.
  3. Farming Basics — cultivate → sow → grow → harvest → sell or process, crop by crop.

After that, specialise:

  • Weather Guide — rain grows crops faster but blocks harvest; clear windows matter.
  • Crops Guide — grains versus vegetables, growth and price personality, matching machines, diversification.
  • Market Guide — living prices, sell timing, fuel cash buffers, contracts versus open-market income.
  • Contracts Guide — neighbour jobs for cash and story without starving your own land.
  • Production Chains — mill, sawmill, warehouse, and when processed goods beat raw sales.
  • Repair Guide — wear, Sydorovych service costs, and when to fix versus push one more field.
  • Early Access Review — honest buyer-minded look at pace, current content, and roadmap fit.

How The Headlands rewards planning

There are no panic timers and no sudden punishments. Progress is tangible but paced: an old tractor, neglected fields, and limited resources become a working holding if you balance time, fuel, and grain. Market prices move on their own — sometimes while the load is already on the truck — so selling is a decision, not a reflex. Weather is gameplay, not wallpaper: clear skies, clouds, fog, rain, and thunderstorms all shift how you schedule field work. Machines wear, service costs climb as condition falls, and broken iron cannot work fields until you pay the downtime.

Early Access is planned for roughly twelve months. The story begins in Traktorivka and is meant to expand beyond the village later. The price may rise after 1.0; EA buyers keep future updates. The game is single-player only on Steam for Windows and macOS. Official channels include the Steam store, YouTube @TheHeadlandsGame, and Instagram/TikTok theheadlandsgame.

Use this Guides Hub whenever you need a practical answer. Cross-link between siblings as you play — fuel mistakes, rain harvest timing, crop mix, sell-versus-process choices, and repair timing show up again and again in Early Access.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Early Access farmers in Traktorivka.

Which guide should I read first in Early Access?

Start with Getting Started, then Controls and Farming Basics. Add Weather and Crops before your first rainy harvest week, Market once you haul for cash, and Contracts once neighbours start offering work.

Is The Headlands multiplayer?

No. The Headlands is single-player only on Steam (Windows and macOS). Plan your farm alone at your own pace.

Do these guides invent controls or prices?

No. Advice matches official Early Access facts: fuel/time/grain balance, living prices, rain growth versus harvest bans, mill and sawmill production, wear and repair, and neighbour contracts. Check in-game menus for current binds and exact numbers.

Where do machine rankings live?

Use the Tier List Hub for tractors, harvesters, and homemade builds from the mechanic mentor. Guides stay focused on systems and decisions — see also the Repair guide for wear costs.

Is there a buyer-minded overview before I purchase?

Yes. The Early Access Review page covers pace, current content versus roadmap, single-player focus, and price context without invented scores.
